Awesome upgrade expeirence!

Hi gang,

This thread doesn't need an answer and I do want to stress out that you should not pick up my post in the wrong way. Heck, I hope you guys don't mind me posting it! There will always be issues with popular software. Yet that kinda triggered me to do what I'm about to do, but please don't pick this up thinking that it should all be perfect and such... stuff happens, and when it does contact support or ask here.

So ... Around 2019 I decided that I didn't enjoy the update cycle of 'The Gimp' and considering the fact that Photoshop is a de-facto standard that's where I went. Only problem: I despise SaaS and thus, not for me. That's where I discovered 'Elements' in the Microsoft store out of all places. This is relevant because despite me not having any kind of Adobe account I was easily granted an upgrade to PE 2019 which I got through the Adobe website itself. And here we are, my "real" upgrade. I felt the need to vent.

I thought long and hard, and even though I'm still not 100% sure I need the new stuff and being convinced that this is a bit of a "annual drain" (NO offense intended!) I still decided to buy into this, if not for the features then to support the perpetual ideology (that won't be an annual habbit but I felt that I owed you guys one with the previous update in mind; it also helps that I'm very satisfied with my setup).

Now, I'm not here to write propaganda. The reason for all this: I'm a die-hard Microsoft 'Windows security' user. I also know the consequences of having anti-malware enabled and thus I came prepared. So it wasn't any surprise when 'Organizer 2022' didn't pick up my previous catalog (I'm a HUGE fan of this software!) and for obvious reasons (= strict anti virus) I didn't let it upgrade my catalog. I updated my security profile in Windows 10, I then re-started the whole thing and low and behold: no more pop-ups. I went to "Catalog management" (in the 'File' menu, since I'm using the Dutch version it's well possible that this won't match your version). After opening the option... there it was: my catalog: "PLMedia" (I'm a geek, I learn my stuff and customize everything). Yah, and my faith turned out true: "We upgraded your catalog & saved it as "PLMedia 1". Meaning that my 2020 (or "19.0") or previous version still worked! That is professional!

So despite all the extra security hazzards I had 0 issues upgrading. My only real annoyance was Navigator (which is called Organizer, I dunno what came over me) kept bugging me about backups. Turned out this setting wasn't picked up and kept to daily. Easily fixed. Next Photoshop didn't pick up my "floating" preference. But other than that?

I'm a happy upgrader. 

It even didn't take me any effort to get ZBrush to acknowledge my new Elements. All in all... very happy with the results, next week it'll become official when I remove my old stuff (after my backup schedule for all obvious reasons).

Figured I'd share... This applies to both Photoshop Elements and Premiere but I figured this forum was best since you guys don't have an offtopic section.
