Broken hard drive

My external hard drive with my photos for last year stopped working, although gladly I still have originals on the camera hard drives but I have not backed them up to another drive yet. Obviously the photos are all in the elements organiser and I cannot open them or even delete to re-upload them.

Elements wont' let me re-upload the normal way and, as they're not in my back up drive, I cannot re-upload them that way. How do I upload them onto an external drive to get them to show as files (as opposed to missing files) in organiser. Thanks in advance

So still no suggestions apart from getting stated the obvious, is there any other way other than either adding the photos again as duplicates, or completely deleting photoshop from my computer and reinstalling everything

Take the external drive out of its case and either mount it as an internal drive or use a dock like this to connect it and see if you can transfer the files to a new drive:

Obviously, they are not in the Elements organizer, since it only contains links to the path/drive of each file, absolutely no copy.
