Question

Bug from PSE 13 (or maybe before) still not fixed in PSE 15

There is a bug with GPS positioning in PSE 13 on a MAC.  Many discussions with Adobe Support who acknowledge the bug exists, (but only on a MAC, not on windows).  Thought they might issue a fix, but didn't, then had high hopes that by the time PSE 15 came along it would be sorted, but no.  Please Adobe can you sort this before PSE16 arrives? I would really like to upgrade, but will not until this bug is fixed.

Hi,

Can you please elaborate the issue you are facing? Please provide details like actions you perform, the frequency of issue, your OS version, PSE version etc. This would help us in replicating the issue at our end.

Thanks,

Ankit D

Hi Ankit,

I have reported this geotag bug a few times, the last time under Adobe Case number-0187265356. Adobe checked my issue and agreed that there was a bug in (only) the MAC version PSE13 and had been replicated in PSE 14. I have now checked PSE 15 (because I had hoped that it would have been sorted) but it still appears to there.

The problem is that when a photograph is imported the same series of numbers are inserted into both the longitude and latitude. I have attached 2 screenshots of photographs, taken with different cameras in different parts of the world. You will see that both the longitude and the latitude of both photos have the numbers 14073319388 after the period. This puts a large error on the location.

I am using PSE 13.1, but have downloaded PSE 15 to find exactly the same problem. I am using OS10.12.3. This occurs on ALL photographs regardless of whether they are taken on a Canon, Lumix or iphone.

Hope this helps to resolve the problem

Thanks for your reply.

I have not received any attached images. If you have replied to this through email then please login to Adobe forums and then attach the images in the post.

The problem is that when a photograph is imported the same series of numbers are inserted into both the longitude and latitude.

Here two cases  possible ideally:

1. If your media files are clicked by a camera supporting geotagging, they are displayed on the map after importing but don't have place names associated with them.To associate a place name with these files you'll have to hover over the stack and click the Get Location button. This will retrieve the place name using GPS info embedded in the image.

2.Your camera/device does not support geotagging and images do not have any embedded GPS info. After import, you can assign a location to these images bu drag-drop on map/ using Add location dialog and specifying place name. Your images would show up on the map at the specified location. You can go to File menu-> Save metadata to file to store the corresponding place's GPS coordinates to your image.

So, can you please tell the steps you do after which you see the numbers in latitude and longitude. Also, it would be really helpful if you could attach the files and error screenshot.

Thanks,

Ankit D
