What version of windows are you using?

Photoshop CS2 can use up to camera raw 3.7, which includes all previous camera support

plus new ones added for 3.7.

Camera Raw 3.7 update

This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 and 5.0 software. Visit the Camera Raw page for a complete list of supported cameras.

Important notice:
Read the following installation instructions carefully. Incorrect installation will prevent Adobe Bridge and Adobe Camera Raw 3.7 from reading raw images correctly.

Support for the following cameras has been added in this update.

• Nikon D40
• Pentax K10D

The Camera Raw 3.7 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS2, versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 4.0, or versions of Premiere Elements earlier than Premiere Elements 3.0. The latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in available for Photoshop Elements 3.0 customers is Camera Raw 3.6.

Installation Instructions

After downloading a ".zip" file in Windows, extract the contents of the .zip file to access the file's contents. To install with Adobe Creative Suite 2 or Photoshop CS2:

1. Exit Photoshop CS2.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)

Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats

or

Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats 

on a 64 bit windows operating system.

5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop CS2 or Adobe Bridge.

NOTE: If generic camera thumbnails appear in Adobe Bridge, please follow the these steps:

1. Check to make sure the plug-in was installed in the correct directory in Step 6 above.
2. Start Adobe Bridge.
3. Choose Tools > Cache > Purge Central Cache.

Important: Purging the Central Cache deletes cached thumbnail information for all folders. It also deletes labels, ratings, and rotation settings for read-only files (for example, files on a CD or locked files) or file formats that don't have XMP support.

Additional notes

Important Notes Regarding Camera Raw 3.7

There are several significant changes to Camera Raw 3.7 in how it handles auto and default settings:

• Applying auto settings by default is no longer controlled on a model by model basis, but instead there is a single global preference checkbox "Apply auto tone adjustments" that controls this adjustment for all camera models at once.
• Camera Raw 3.7 no longer supports per slider auto adjustments. One "Auto" control at the top of the panel now sets the Exposure, Shadows, Brightness, and Contrast sliders to their auto values. The "Default" control at the top of the panel sets these same four sliders to their default values. The keyboard shortcut for the Auto control is CMD/CTRL-U. The keyboard shortcut for the Default control is CMD/CTRL-R.
• Double clicking on a slider to set that single slider to its default value.
• Shift double clicking on a slider to set that single slider to its auto value.
• Previously, default image settings could only be applied per camera model. Camera Raw 3.7 can now:
  
  
  • Apply default image settings specific to a camera serial number
  • Apply default image settings specific to a camera ISO setting
    The additional criteria are located in the Camera Raw preferences.
• The default settings (including the global auto preference) are now shared with the DNG Converter.
• The DNG Converter requires OS X v.10.3.9 as a minimum operating system for Mac.
