Camera raw causing Elements to freeze

I´m running Elements 2024 on Windows11. When I try to Open in Camera RAW, the computer freezes. I have to go to Task Manager. I still have Elements9 on the pc and can use "Open as Camera RAW" with no problem. I have checked that Elements and Camera RAW are up to date. It is a new pc with 32gb of RAM and a graphics card. Everything else on this pc works ok including demanding apps like Topaz Photo AI. I did not have this problem before updating to Windows11.

You will not lose your catalogues when uninstalling, (unless you have moved them to an unusual custom location).

I have unistalled and re-installed. All the catalogues seem to be there although only the top photo of the Stack or Version Set is visible and there seems to be no way of expanding the Stack or Version Set. Also the problem with Camera RAW (freezing the program) is still there.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Elements. There are changes in the way Windows 10 and 11 name users and system folders. Do you have the same user account name after updating to Win 11?

Yes, I have the same usesr name, and I have the serial number, so I will give that a go. I presume I will not lose my catalogues ?

As far as I remember, I just used the Windows Update facility.

I see from other queries that resetting the Preferences for Camera RAW has helped with this issue in Photoshop. But Elements does not seem to have the ability to reset Preferences for Camera RAW separately. I have reset the overall Preferences to default but that hasn´t helped.

Have you installed Camera Raw from the Elements 2024 Help menu?

Yes, it is Camera RAW 16.0.0.1677 in action.
