Question

Camera raw download not working

I've downloaded and installed the camera raw plugin for elements 2023, but when I try to open a raw file I get a box saying I need the plug in

In the help menu there is an "about camera raw" option but that's all

Photos were taken on a Canon R6 Mark II

It sounds like the original Camera Raw download from Elements was unsuccessful.  You may want to try to Install Camera Raw from the Elements Help menu again.  If the file folder still doesn't appear, you can create it yourself and copy the Camera Raw.8bi file from the CC folder to the following (created) path:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 21\File Formats

Added:  Obviously, this is for a Windows installation.

I did that but still no joy

I can't see an option to install Camera Raw from the Elements Help menu.
All i can see is an About Plug-in option that has Camera Raw as a sub
option but it doesn't give an installation option

I went to the Adobe download page and downloaded the Camera Raw 15.4
installer from there, and then ran it. It seemed to install OK

Your newish camera requires ACR 15.  Elements 2023 only downloads ACR 14.x.  However, there is a workaround that you can find in this link.  (This link is to the Archive.org website and it may take a little while for the page to load.)

Follow, the directions in the link precisely and you can install the latest version of ACR 15.x into Elements 2023.

    Thanks very much

all went well until the last bit!

In the Plug-ins folder there is only a CC folder, and no Elements folder

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

no problem (adobe's website and forums are, to be polite, "difficult" to navigate).
