Can I get help with a text tool question on PSE 15?

Not even sure if I can explain what problem I am having...

In the last day or so, while working in PS Elements 15, my text tool began acting up.

First, it would ONLY type in CAPS and would have an extra space between letters... i.e. R O C K as opposed to ROCK

Found a fix in forum for the All CAPS using the Command-Shift-Y keys. That cleared up the ALL CAPS.

Now, I still am getting the text typed (no matter what font I use) that displays the text with a space between letters: i.e. R O C K.

This is also combined with the RETURN key only moving a small portion down instead of one full line down. By hitting the RETURN key multiple times, you can get to the next line of type.

As of today, I have UN-INSTALLED PSE 15, and then downloaded from Adobe and re-INSTALLED the PSE 15 software.

The problem STILL EXISTS.

Can someone offer a help suggestion?

I am running OS 10.13.6 on a MacBook Pro.
