Question

Can I open Elements 5.0 psd files in the latest version of Photoshop for the Mac

I have a lot of files saved in my Elements 5.0 program with a .psd extension.  I would like to purchase an iMac and use Photoshop but I want to make sure my old files will work on the new program so I don't have to resave everything.

Your psd files are not in 'Element's', they are on your drive, and all Elements versions can read and edit them.

If you have used the Organizer in Elements and added information (tags, captions, ratings etc.), that organizing information can be retrieved, but it's a bit more complicated than with PSE6 and newer because the database engine has been changed. If that is the case, just ask for help.
