can't download to transfer to new computer because of old (dead) email

I have a new PC and want to download my dvd of Elements 2018 to it but it wants to reply to my old email, which has been defunct for 6 years. An Adobe tech person just told me that is the only way to transfer the "ownership" but suggested I try this board for suggestions. Help please! This is really frustrating. I don't use it enough to justify a subscription. I just want my old Elements 2018 on my new computer.
