Question

can't install second copy of Photoshop [Elements] 14

I have Photoshop Elements 14 installed on my Windows 10 computer. I want to install it on another computer in a different part of my house.

I downloaded the installation .exe and began to install it. I was logged into my account and was asked the serial number of my Photoshop Elements14 program. The program began to install, but said that I had a start of the computer in sopension, so I should restart the computer and try again. I installed the program and tried to open it.

The second time, I got a message that said I already had the maximum number of copies installed.

I don't see any other copies on my account. Under "devices" I see:

DEVICE                                   DATE ACTIVATED  ACTION
Surface-Pro-4 on WINDOWS_64 Jul 26, 2021 Deactivate

Is it possible that the failed attempt to install the program is being perceived as one copy installed in addition to the one on the other computer? If so, how do I reset this count'

Under "products" I see the one version of Elements 14 on my first computer, and 2 older versions that I had bought in the past. The Elements 14 version says it's "multiplatform". Does this indicate another copy is installed somewhere, or does it simply mean it can be used on different platforms?

Could one of the old versions be interfering? I don't see any way to deactivate them, and I assume they're not activated anyway.

I have a free Android app called Photoshop Express installed on my phone. Is this interfering with the installation?

I don't see any way to resolve this problem. I've searched the Adobe site and the internet in general, but I don't see any way of resolving the problem. It would have been most helpful if Adobe, when it told me I already had two copies installed, had informed me where they were and how I could deactivate one of them. Instead it left me with a big guessing game, which has already consumed several hours of my time.

@bvlenci, if you follow @jane-e's advice, your problem should be solved.  The only other possibility to the ones you have already mentioned is that you have the program open on your installed machine.  I have never been in a position to test this, but the license allows the program to be used on one machine at a time.  I suppose it is possible that having the program open on another machine may interfere with the installation on a second machine.  (I doubt it, but just wanted to cover all the bases.)

@bvlenci

I don't use Photoshop Elements, only Photoshop, but I just read your post and realized I can answer some of this.

If you can't deactivate one copy of PSE yourself, you need to contact Adobe Customer Care. They will tell you that they do not support your very old version, and you will keep repeating that you are not asking for support — you are asking to reset your activations. Only Customer Care can do this, so insist on it. Copy your request so you can paste it in if you need to say it again.

You can send a tweet to @AdobeCare.

Do not reply to PMs, which are likely to be scammers.

Also: no, this has absolutely nothing to do with Adobe Express for Android, which has a free version and premium version (paid).

Hi @bvlenci

Since your question is about Photoshop Elements, I have moved this from the Photoshop forum where you posted.
