Can't see type as I type it in PSE 2025

Question

PSE does not replace existing type after I type it until/unless I click the check box. This is super annoying, as I can't see what I'm typing as I type it. I never had this issue in PSE 11. I see that other users have had this problem in other versions of PSE but there doesn't seem to be a solution in those threads. And yes, I have tried all the usual fixes:

- I've set the font size correctly (small enough for the text box).

- I'm using a dark font on a light background. The text shows up fine AFTER I click the check box.

- I've tried both with and without the "use graphics card" performance option in Preferences. Doesn't make a difference.

Is there an actual fix for this problem that just hasn't been added to the earlier threads? I sure hope so!

Have you tried a work around like paragraph text.  For example select the T tool and drag out a rectangle where you want the text. Type within the rectangle area and the blue check mark stays outside of the rectangle without obscuring the text.
