@bettys72428265, who sent you the email?  If it does not come from an @Adobe.com address, it is a scammer who is probably trying to sell you a newer version.  If you received a notification about a Private Message via email from Adobe, the person who sent you the Private Message is a scammer.  Please let us know the forum identity of the person who sent you the PM so that we can get the Admins to ban them from the forum.

You still haven't answered whether you tried my Creative Cloud suggestion.

Have you tried my suggestion to install the Creative Cloud desktop application?

Just got an email saying that it has not been officially supported for over a year now, (that explains why I could not update) Software that supports updates has probably been turned off.

@bettys72428265, I seriously doubt that the servers for the 2020 update have been turned off.  A year or so ago, I reinstalled every version since Elements 8 and was able to install updates for all but one of them (IIRC it was Elements 11).  I have no experience with Macs, but a number of Windows users who have had installation problems have been able to fix them by downloading and installing the free Creative Cloud desktop application.  There is no need to purchase any subscription, but this program seems to be in charge of licensing activation for older versions of Elements.  It can't hurt to give it a try.

As for the blue triangle on filters, these are generally files that need to be downloaded to your computer.  You should be able to gain access to them by double-clicking on them.  If you cannot download these features, it suggests that there are issues with your internet connection.  Please let us know if you are getting any error messages.  A screenshot is helpful.

And is there some reason why you haven't tried to update Elements 2020 before now?  Is the Help>Updates menu active or greyed out? Are you sure that you have build 20190827.m.136736? What build is shown if you click on Help>System Info . . . ?

Hello there,
I double checked the build, and the numbers are correct.
I have been trying to do the updates many times during the year,
initially the screen would come up that the updates are installing but
never finish.
Just recently got the message (attached)

i have been looking on the help site and some speak of an update help app,
but i cannot find it anywhere (attached). Is there any other info i can
give you to possibly help?

It hasn't been offically supported for over a year now....  It might say "you have an update availible"- but the software that supports the updates has probably been turned off since the software is no longer offically supported--- so that "Update available" message remains.

Hi Betty,
Since your question is about Photoshop Elements, I have moved this from the Photoshop forum where you posted.
