Question

Canon 77d cr2 files

Just purchased the 77D and I can't view the .cr2 files in Windows Photo Viewer or Photoshop Elements 13. I can still view the older .cr2 files.

I have updated files in Elements 13 and is shows all are updated but the CameraRaw is still 9.0.

I've down loaded the most updated version of Adobe CameraRaw (10 and 9.1 versions) but still can't view the files nor does elements open the file (raw editor doesn't open).

Tried opening .exe files in compatibility modes but wasn't able to do so.

After following all the advice on the internet and forums I'm at a loss.

If someone could give me a step-by-step process to fix this.

Running Windows 10.

Thanks

    General answer and free solution.

    Read this faq:

FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

It explains why each new camera comes with a new, custom, Raw format than no older editing software can read.

It gives the link mentioned by Yachika:

    Cameras supported by Camera Raw

And also which Elements version can support a given ACR version:

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

Note that it is not updated:  PSE2018 can be upgraded today to 10.2, while version 10.3 is available for Photoshop.

What is important is that it explains you can download the free Adobe DNGconverter.

That standalone app, not a plugin, can batch convert a whole folder of raw files to the DNG raw format in a single step.

An additional batch step, but free, with the same quality.

    Hi,

For 77D raw files, a minimum Camera Raw version of 9.10 is required but Photoshop Elements 13 at most supports Camera Raw 9.0. Please refer Cameras supported by Camera Raw.

    Thanks,
