Cant drag selected photos from PSE2022 onto another program

Selecting photos on the organiser and now I want to drag them to another application - Google photos.

 

Try to drag them but get a red circle with a diagonal line thtough it.

 

What is going on?

Are you dragging the files into a web browser or via the Google desktop downloader application?  In either event, try dragging slower.  I have sometimes had issues when dragging too fast from the Organizer to another application.

Another possibility may be that the image is locked because it is in use by another program.  For example, if the file is still open in the Editor or some other program.

If dragging from organizer does not work, try this:

1. Open File Explorer and identify the picture file

2. Right click the file name and in the context menu and go to Copy

3. Open Google Photos, and paste (CTRL+V). Make sure that you are logged in.

I'm guessing that the photos are in an incompatible format such as raw files or .psd.  If that is the case, you need to convert the files to jpegs.

Files are JPEG's and trying to get them onto Google photos.

 

Reading around the subject is it something to do with Windows - I'm on Windows 11
