Catalog migration from PSE11 to PSE24

I have upgraded from Photoshop Elements 11 to Photoshop Elements 24.  PSE11 is on an old computer running Windows 10.  PSE24 is on a new computer with Windows 11.  PSE11 wouldn't load onto the new computer.  How do I get the catalog from PSE11 into PSE24?  I have a back-up of the PSE11 catalog on an external HDD as well as copies of the catalog folders on another HDD.  My photos have been copied to the new computer but are sitting on a C:\ drive whereas they were on a D:\ drive on the old computer but the folder structure has been retained.  Are the catalog folders from PSE11 compatible with PSE24?

Correct answer Greg_S.

The Elements 11 catalog is not compatible with Elements 2024 and will need to be converted in the new program.  The easiest way to do this is to Restore the backup from Elements 2024.  However, you are going to need to make some decisions about how you want the catalog to handle the files in the future.  You could use either the C drive or the D drive (or another drive or folder).  But you will have to be careful in order not to end up with a duplicate set of media files.  (Although, in my opinion, you can never have enough backup copies of your photos.)

This article will give you more detail about the process, but feel free to ask any further questions about how to proceed if you are unclear.

Many thanks Greg. The Catalog has been imported into PSE24 on the new PC. The linked article in your post did the trick.
