Hi together,

I'm currently working with a very large catalog within pse 12 organizer and I'm thinking about changing to pse 2018. Do you have any experience with whether the catalogues of older versions are smoothly migrated into pse 2018 or are there problems to be considered?

kind regards

Matthias from Germany

This is a very common task which depends on you type of migration:

    - If you install a newer version (2018) on the same computer which contains your photo files and catalogs, the 'conversion' process of the catalog automatically happens at the end of the new installation. A new catalog in the 2018 format is created and populated with all the information in your current older catalog. The old catalog is renamed with a -1 suffix and still works with PSE12. If you miss the conversion prompt dialog, you can still use the menu File >> manage catalogs and press the 'convert' button. You can convert any other catalog from any previous version since PSE6.

    - If you migrate to another computer or drive, use the backup and restore process.

    Move Elements Organizer catalog

The conversion process is performed at the end of the restore.

Possible problems: for some 'creations' of older versions. PSE 2018 organizer does not support managing the Illustrator PDF format, only the Photoshop/PDF format for files created by Elements.
