Before I update to Elements 2024 from 2020, does anyone know if Photoshop Elements 2024 now supports  CFExpress Type B cards?

Thanks,

Jim

I can't give you a definitive answer, but no attention has been given to the Adobe Photo Downloader in many years.  I doubt whether support for CFExpress cards has been added.  But you can find out for yourself by downloading a 7 day free trial of Elements 2025.  Please let us know if you decide to do that.

If a bug was raised to add support for CFexpress support to the Elements Downloader shouldn't  the status of that feature be known?

It also seems that a fix/update to the Downloader could be created (if not already available) just as one can update ACR without updating the entire PSE version.

Has this been resolved?

It's not so much PSE, but  your hardware, but your computer.

NX-SB1SE is a CFexpress Type B card reader/writer with a USB 20Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen2x2) interface with a standard transfer speed of 2,500 MB/s.  That's 2.5 GB/ per second- if your hardware supports it.   I find transfer rates of chips to be 1/10th the stated data transferugged into my usb 3.0 port.

You will need to purchase a dedicated CFexpress reader.  Bunch of them on sale on Amazon.  Ensure you get the correct one based upon the type of usb port you have.   USB 3.0 ports are are blue.  If you plug the card reader into a usb 2.0 port you won't get that balzing fast transfere speed that 3.0 offers.

Thanks.  I am using a ProGrade Digital CFExpress B/SD dual card reader I got on Amazon a couple months ago.  The SD side of the card reader reads fine.  Also, File Explorer in Windows recognizes the files on the CFExpress card in the reader.  I tried your suggestion of connecting the camera directly.  That did work.  Seems wierd that the SD slot of the card reader would work, but not the CFExpress slot only when attached to PSE 2020.  I found a comment in the forum thta said PSE 2020 didn't support CFExpress cards.  That's why I asked if PSE 2024 now supported them.  I also have a ticket open with Adobe suport asking the same question.

Thanks again,

Jim

Did you ever resolve this?  I have exactly the same issue as you. I dont think PSE 24 does support Type B CF cards. I wonder if this has beenn addressed in PSE 25? I am thinking about upgrading to PSE 25 or Lightroom but have not made up my mind yet

regards

Is it the card or the reader that is the problem?   If you connect to the camera via a USB port, it should work.  But you can download a free trial and see for yourself.
