Hello. I have been running Photoshop Elements 8 on a desktop (Windows Vista) and have just upgraded to a new desktop (Windows 10).  I've installed PSE8 on my new desktop but how do I transfer all the tags etc from my images to the new desktop?  I don't want to have to re-create.  And if I upgrade to latest version of PSE will this retain all my tags?  Many thanks for any advice.

This is a very common situation for which the organizer provides the adequate tools:

Move Elements Organizer catalog | Elements 6 or later

    In a few words:

    - you create a full backup on an external drive (that saves both the catalog and the media files) from the catalog manager

    - you restore from the catalog manager to the new (custom) location on the new computer or new drive.

If you restore from a more recent version, after the restore of the media files, you are prompted to 'convert' the catalog to the new format. That creates a catalog copy; the original catalog is unchanged but is renamed with a -1 suffix.

The above process restores everything, tags, captions, ratings, notes, albums, stacks and version sets.

You can choose to install PSE8, PSE15 or both in the new computer. I would recommend upgrading because PSE8 is a really old version which risks problems when installed on a new OS version.
