Choosing enhance colour or lighting always selects the colour picker.

I updated Elements 2018 this morning and since then whenever I try to use enhance the colour picker is automatically selected and I can't change it. If I choose a new adjustment layer this doesn't happen. I have closed the program and restarted, opened the image files through the organiser and rebooted my iMac but have been unable to change this behaviour. Suggestions please.
