Circular Selection Fills With Color

This question applies to PSE6 under Win7/Pro x64.

I (more or less) see how to select a circle although where to start is not intuitive.

With the ellipse tool selected, the style set as simple inner (that is what I want to copy/paste) I can get a circle drawn by holding down Shift but everything I do after I've got my circle results in the circular area being filled by the color selected in the tool bar menu.

I'm missing something.

thanks

Try creating a new blank layer above your background image.

    Layer >> New >> Layer >> OK

Then draw a circle.  You can add a stroke e.g. to outline the circle. Or tell us what you are trying to do.

    Thanks, 99jon,

Between the video and the reply and some intuitive play once I knew where to start I managed to select a circle and

create a new image by selecting and copying a circular selection.

    Thanks

I all you are trying to do is select a circle without the color fill, you can use the Elliptical Marquee tool holding down Shift to get a circle.
