Clone Stamp, Pen Pressure & Wacom v Windows Ink problems in PSE 2018

I've also posted this in the community....

I see this is a well discussed problem in many Photoshop online forums with some solutions, but can't find a proven solution for Photoshop Elements (PSE).

My problems:-

  1. Can’t use the Wacom to properly select the 'Clone Stamp' source area without activating brush option controls + a 'white circle' appears (something to do with Ink I presume? I don't use it BTW)
  2. Switching off ‘Use Windows Ink’ in Wacom Control Panel 'PSE' tab resolves the problem, BUT......
  3. Pen pressure is now disabled! I can toggle this on and off using by ticking/un-ticking ‘Use Windows Ink’ checkbox in the PSE tab of the Wacom Control Panel.

What have I done so far?

I called Wacom who were very helpful, but was eventually advised I should raise this with Adobe.I called Adobe UK number who wouldn’t provide support with PSE 2018 as 2019 has been released! (NOT very helpful!!)

What am I using?

  • Wacom Intuos Small version (purchased on 27/1/19)
  • Wacom Control panel & Driver version 6.3.32-4
  • PSE 2018
  • Windows 10 on HP Spectre X360 13" Convertible

If a representative of Adobe software support reads this forum, please provide a fix for all the PSE users who are having the same problem!

Did whatever Wacom tell you solve the issue?

If not, look at this video around the 4.12 mark for two windows settings to change.

Hi Steve

I’m not using a Wacom tablet myself but I think brush selection, either sensitivity for size or sensitivity for opacity is important when using the clone stamp tool. See if this YouTube video is of any help:
