    Hi,

Please reset the preferences for Editor only. To further enhance the performance, you can follow the below mentioned steps :

    • In editor, Go to preferences->Performance.Increase the Let Photoshop Elements use MBs to around 80%.
    • Go to preferences->Scratch disks. If you have more than one disks, select another disk (not the start up disk) as the scratch disk.

Please let us know if that helps you or the issue still persists.

    Regards,

    Shivani

Sounds like your referring to the "Spinning Wheel of Death" that lots of Mac users call it.

It's a lot better since I changed the performance preference to 95%, but yeah that wheel stinks. Is there a solution?Text,Jim C

Did you try to close it by clicking on the x button on the top right corner?  Alternatively, go to:

    Window >> Color Swatches

Remove the check mark against it.

    Where are the image files?

In the Pictures folder (internal volume) or on an external drive? If ext hdd try opening a photo from Pictures.

Are any other apps running, if so use Cmd+Q to close each one except Finder.

    Does that give any improvement?
