Compatibility Elements 5 to Elements 15

Have Elements 5 which now loads but then shuts down when attempting to use it  If I upgrade to Elements 15 will it retain my collections and tags?

    To add to 99jon's good answer:

    'collections' in PSE5 are now called 'albums', just a change of name, same feature.

    The backup and restore process works best with PSE6 and later. Keywords (tags) should convert but some creations (projects) may not. See the section Restore from PSE5 or earlier at the following link:
