Conflict to install Camera raw

Hello,

Today I've tried to install camera raw but it always give me an error message (something like a conflict during installation). I closed all the softwares I could find but nothing to do,it keep giving that message.

I wonder if there is a way to manually install Camera Raw for photoshop elements 2023, by downloading directly on computer and not by Adobe Element menu?

@Valentina ♡ ,  I don't think you are following the directions we have given you.  If you manually executed the downloaded plug-in for ACR 16.1 (AdobeCameraRaw_x64_16_1.exe), it would have installed the Camera Raw.8bi file in the following directory: 

 

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\

 

You need to copy that file and paste it in the following directory (for Elements 2023):

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 21\File Formats\

 

If that folder doesn't already exist, you need to create it.  (It may not exist because you haven't fully installed the Camera Raw from the Help Menu in Elements 2023.  Camera Raw is part of the Photoshop Elements Add on Utilities 2023.)

Thanks I did as above said but it keep to tell me that I need to install Adobe add on utilities, 

(I copied "Camera Raw.8bi." inside the folder

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 21\File Formats\

(the folder Elements 21|File Formats didn't exist I had to create manually...

And then, after the error that I need to install Adobe add on, I launch the download of the camera row online and the error 131 appear again and it block after 2%... 😞

Hi Valentina.  You asked:  Where I can also download the camera row files for adobe photoshop elements 21 camera raw installer?  

I'm not sure if I fully understand your question.  Elements 2023 is version 21 of the program.  There is no separate installer that you can download other than through the Help menu.

 

If you have a new camera, then you may need a version of Camera Raw newer than ACR 14.x which is currently installed for Elements.  The link you provided is for those with Photoshop CC to download the latest version of ACR.  That version (currently ACR 15.5) will also work with Elements 2023.  All you need do is to download and install the latest version of camera raw and copy the Camera Raw.8bi  file from the following directory:

 

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\

 

and paste it into the Elements 2023 directory which is:

 

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 21\File Formats\

 

If you want to save the Camer Raw file in a safe place, all you need do is save a copy of the Camera raw.8bi file.

    Sorry this late response. Today I install photoshop elements also in my Main Computer. (it was installed only in my portable pc ). Now I need to install again camera raw updated. But it gives me an error message when it try to update from photoshop element: it says conflict error and it stops at 2%.  (Conflict of installation) it says the error. (Code error 131). 
    So I wanted to manually install the camera raw plugin (15 or 16). 
    But even if I try to install manually the file "AdobeCameraRaw_x64_16_1.exe" , it launch the installation, it seems do something (install all the things it have to install), but when I re lauch again photoshop elements, yet, it don't open photos in camera raw and a message still says that there's need Photoshop Add on utilities to install it.. I'm a bit confused.. 

    (also, I dont have in my computer any file called Camera Raw.8bi  in any folder (at least I didnt see it )

    what is Photoshop Elements Add on Utilities 2023?

    I simply wish to manually install the plugin.

    Your error coded inidcates there are still background processes running that need to stop befoe you can install acr.


    Go here and download the ACR installer if you have not done so allready.

    Once you have that downloaded:  RESTART  YOUR COMPUTER.  Turn it all the way off, go get a cup of coffee, come back and turn it one.

    THEN:  INSTALL ACR.   NOTE: Don't open anything related to Adobe-- not the editor, not organizer, nothing.
    There is  zero reason for you to manually install ACR if your camera doesn't need it. 

    Based upon your most recent post:   Sound likeyou need to install the Adobe creative cloud desktop app.  Just install it, and ignore it.  No worries- you won't, and can't, get signed up or put on any purchas plans automatically.   Just install the creative could app and ignore it.

      I got the same message when I tried to install Camera Raw. Just do as @Greg_S. said and it will install OK.

        The conflict is with the Organizer or Editor (whichever you used to download ACR).  Once you start the ACR install and get the error message, close all Elements programs and you should be able to continue with the installation.  If necessary, close the Elements processes from Task Manager.

        (IMO, this is very poor programming in the ACR installer routine.)

          Thank you! It works! As long as the message advises me about the conflict , I simply closed Photoshop elements and ACR installation advanced (the percentual now is at 24%) so it's started the installation!
