If I backup a catalog, using version 11,  and restore to my brothers' computers (with a different version of Elements) will it maintain notes and stacks, etc? I was tasked with scanning old family prints from the last 100 years and wish to provide my brothers, not only the scans, but also the notes associated with the images.

    See:

Move Elements Organizer catalog | Elements 6 or later

If you restore from version 11 or newer, you'll get your photo files restored as well as the catalog (holding your tags and captions). After the restore, the catalog will be converted the newer version if necessary.

Thanks for the reinforcement.  Will now try to figure out what went wrong on their end.

After the restore to the new computer, you'll find the restored media folders tree, plus the restored catalog folder.

To find the location of the catalog, use the Explorer to search for file named 'catalog.pse11db' file. The folder containing that database file is the catalog. Double click on that database file to open the organizer with the restored catalog. Alternatively, use the menu File >> manage catalogs to browse to the location of the catalog folder.
