    @alanl53778612, please accept my apology for the tone and content of my earlier post.  In my feeble defense, I never bother changing the Preferences for the crop tool and am rarely bothered by the crop suggestions boxes, even though I don't use them.

    As for the Contact Us button, yes it looks like in the U.K. the webpage is different.  As you note, the button will open a Virtual Assistant chat box.  But during Support hours of operation, a live person should be available to help (chat with) you.  Local telephone numbers and hours of operation may be found here.

    Sorry, Walter_H.  I have unmarked your response as the correct answer since it doesn't fulfill the OP's needs.  And since we were both off base, I won't say anthing about great minds thinking alike.  😉

    Go to Edit>Preferences>General (or hit Ctrl+K).  Uncheck Enable Crop Pre-selection:

    Sorry to spoil the surprise, but this option has been available for at least the past 6 years.

    And, of course Adobe has a Contact Us button - under the Help & Support page of their website.  That is certainly where I would expect to find it, if I didn't know where to look.  That will open a chat session with Adobe support.  Unfortunately, outside the U.S. the hours of operation are limited to local business days/hours.

    Thanks Greg S, but it is the 'Crop Suggestions' I wish to disable, not the 'Crop Pre-Selection'.

    I already have the 'Enable Crop Pre-Selection' box unchecked in Edit>Preferences>General, and I have the Crop Tool set to 'No Restriction'.  Excusing your sarcasm, I am aware that this particular option has been available for six years, but that's not my point.  There seems to be no way to disable the 'Crop Suggestions' feature, which has been asked for for at least six years.

    The 'Crop Suggestions' feature gives four miniature picture at the bottom of the screen.  These are a) too small to get an appreciation of the suggested cropping, and b) never suggest where I would want to crop.

    As for Contact Us, the screen scape you show bears no resemblance to the Adobe Photoshop Elements 'Learn & Support' page I see when I click on 'Help>Photoshop Elements Help'. This takes me to a page with a 'Contact Us', 'Start Now' option, which in turn takes me to a 'Virtual Assistant'.

    Alan, Have you tried unchecking the "Enable Crop Pre-Selection" item in Edit > Preferences > General?

    I also set the Crop tool to No Restriction. The Crop Suggestions NEVER get in my way!

    @Jeremy_H ,

    Did you try my suggestion to use the 'perspective crop' instead of the normal crop option? You don't have to change for perspective, then it works exactly as the simple crop, without any delay, without any disturbing option display.

    Since you are alone to believe that the pre-selection creates a 3 seconds delay, what remains is the real and frustrating idea that you should not be bothered with an additional interface display that you don't need as an expert user. The perspective crop is my solution along with the use of cropping in ACR (even batch cropping, even with jpegs).

    People have been asking Adobe this question for six years.  Not only have thet not fixed this annoying feature, they haven't even bothered to respond to the posts.  Don't you just hate these fat, money-grabbing corporates.  They haven't got a 'Contact Us' option on their website, because they don't want to help theor customers - they just want your money.

    Come on Adobe - you must at least monitor this forum (if only for litigation purposes).  How about surprising us all and turning off  'Crop Suggestions' when in Expert Mode.  They are rarely helpful suggestions; they waste 2-3 seconds every time I make any change to a photo; theyt even refresh after I've done my own crop!  If I've cropped, I don't need your time wasting suggestions.  If I process 300 photos in a session, and I do my own crop on each one (which I invariably do), your Crop Suggestions feature will waste 30 minutes of my time at least. (300 x 3 seconds x 2 [once when I turn on Crop, and once after I've cropped]).

    @Jeremy_H

    I don't get any lag due to the crop pre-selection myself, whatever preference I choose. If I edit 300 pictures, I have lost 300 x 0 = nothing.

    So, it's up to you to demonstrate that 3 seconds lag. Maybe show a video?

    To get an idea of what the average user is getting, I would be very happy to get estimations from other users of this forum. Of course, it would be useful to discover if any lag is due to the crop pre-selection feature.

    I suggest that instead of using the normal crop tool, you use the perspective crop tool. No crop pre-selection, powerful  and easy perspective correction and no intrusive display of suggested crops. Choosing that version of crop is sticky. You can forget about the normal crop. Another option is to use the rectangular marquee tool followed by the 'crop' option.
