Darkening a sky

Hi. First time on this forum.

I have seen many previous posts re improving an overexposed sky, and have watched several YouTube videos.

However, every single one that I have watched quickly degenerates into a guide mentioning buttons that I simply do not have.

For example. Step One Layer > Duplicate Layer. Step Two Set Blending Mode. I don't have a Blending mode, or anything that looks remotely like it.

I have Elements 13.0.0.0.

Can anyone with more knowledge than me tell me how to get rid of overexposed skies by using buttons that are available in my Photoshop version?

Just a simple one would be good to begin. I've only just begun using the program.

You may find it beneficial to obtain this manual. It's a classic, not updated by the author for later versions of the program.

Legend

One simple way of tweaking the sky is to start from Expert mode:

File >> Open in Camera Raw

Then push the highlights slider to the left

Click the open image button to send your photo from camera raw into the regular editor and then save.

The blending modes are in the layers pallet. If you don't see the layers click on the button at the bottom or choose from the menu:

Window >> Layers

Click the dropdown next to the word normal for all the different blend modes.
