Default Resolution in PSE

I have PSE 2018.  When I paste an image or open an unedited image, the resolution is almost always at 72 pixels/inch.  Is there a way in PSE to change the default resolution to what I want which will save me having to resize the image by changing it to 300, which is what I typically use for my final saved version?  Thanks for any insight on this.

From Expert mode go to the menu:

File >> New >> Blank File

Click the pull down menu (Document Type) and choose photo & click OK

That will create a new document automatically setting the resolution to 300. It should be sticky. So close without saving and next time you open a photo it should be at a resolution of 300.

Thank you for the suggestion.  The suggested method does seem to retain the desired resolution for that session of PSE use, but reverts to 72 resolution after closing the program and reopening it.  So I still have to select File>New>Blank File and then set the resolution, then paste the image in order for it to be at the desired resolution (otherwise it is the still arriving as a 72 resolution).  After following the suggested steps, I also tried File>New>Paste From Clipboard and got the same result of 72 resolution.  Maybe PSE doesn't allow that type of customization.

If you are pasting into a new document you can save your own preset with resolution and dimensions. Then simply choose it from the pull down menu.
