Define a keyboard shortcut to scan & import

I am using an old version of Photoshot Elements (version 8).  I am trying to scan old photo albums.  Is there a way to define and use a keyboard shortcut to import a picture through a flatbed scanner.  currently I do File -> Import -> HP officejet... and a scan page control comes up.  I scan one page and the scan page control disappears.  I then need to go through all the clicks again to scan the next page.  If I can't do a keyboard shortcut, is there a wat to keep the scan page up so I can just change the picture and scan the next print?

Any help would be appreciated.
