defringing

When I create a layer and get the defringing box, enter a value, click, then nothing happens. I am using PSE 15 Mac 10.12.6.

    What is in the layer you create? Is it a copy of the background layer?

    Good to hear from you! All I know is that I select the sky in some of my

    pictures, put in a gradient, and most of the time there is a white line

    around the rocks. I can decrease this a little by expanding the selection.

    Then I go to a layer (other than the background layer) and the defringing

    box shows. I chose various values and see no change. I do not understand

    layers very well but I manage most of the time! Some of my work is at

    Try creating a stamped visible layer to defringe on. Select the top layer of your layers panel and type Shift+Option+Command+E (PC: Shift+Alt+Control+E). Open the Defringe dialog box on this new layer.
