'Device not found' error when transferring photos to iMac

In Elements Organiser 11, when I select files>get photos & videos>download from camera or card reader, I get a 'device not found' message, even after selecting 'refresh' I've tried using a different USB port and different lead. I have the same problem with my Canon 70D and EOSM5. It used to work fine until now.

I'm using  macOSHighSierra v10.13.3 on an iMac late 2012.

All ideas grateful received, thank you.
