Does Adobe photoshop elements 2025 support tif/tiff files?

I have some tif files I would like to edit.  Whenever I open Photoshop Elements 2025, it tells me it does not support that file type.  However, everywhere I look on line, I see that TIF is one of the file  types it DOES support.  Is there something I need to add?

Thanks

That most likely means the tif files are 32 bits/channel, which photoshop elements does not support.

You can try from within the Photoshop Elements 2025 Editor using File>Open in Camera Raw.

I can't speak with  certaibty about Elements  25, but my good friend Joni Lohr had the same problem crop up in Elements 26.   In 26, the fix was to simply rename the file to

.tiff from .tif.   So while this info might not be applicable to 25, you could try it ... the cost is pretty low.   They acknowledged it as a 26 bug

The bug in PSE 2026 is specific to the Organizer. The Editor can handle both tif and tiff with no problems.

Yes Photoshop Elements 2025 does supporting opening/editing of most tif files.

Some like Big Tiff are not supported because they are too large in terms of pixel dimensions for Photoshop Elements, which has a limit of 30,000 pixels by 30,000 pixels.

What operating system are you using?

Perhaps the files are either corrupted in some way or are not tif files at all, but have the wrong file extension.

Have you tried opening the tif files in another application/program?

    Thank you for responding.

These files are astronomy images from my telescope.  I  can open them with other image processing programs for astronomy.  Some images are in the single digit MB range and some are over 100 MB.  But the actual message is that PS Elements cannot open HDR files.   I'm not familiar enough with terminology so I thought HDR files had something to do specifically with TIF.  But I guess that is not the case.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
