I have a large number of duplicates in my Photoshop Elements 19 program. They must have got there during the upgrading of the program. I have done the two recommended searches to find them and have begun deleting them but it is a big job. Any ideas? Also how do I mark a number of them to make them ready for deleting? Which buttons do I use on my Windows keyboard?
The Organizer is not an ideal tool to find duplicates. In theory, they should not exist in a catalog.
However, it is easy to select multiple thumbnails in the grid and use the Delete key to remove them. You can use the Shift key to select multiple contiguous thumbnails, and the the Ctrl key to select non-contiguous files. And if you want to get really adept, you can use both the Ctrl and Shift keys to select multiple contiguous and non-contiguous files. To do this, keep your finger on the Ctrl key and when you get to a block of contiguous files for selection, click the first file, press the Shift key, and then press the last of the contiguous files.
Another alternative, is to create a keyword tag for Files for Deletion. Tag the files at your leisure. Then select the keyword tag to filter the grid to those files, hit Ctrl+A to select them all, and then press the Delete key.
