Editor in both 2022 and 2023 freezes after it is opened

I had Photoshop Elements 2022 and used it for almost a year with no problems. About a month ago, i would open the main screen, then select editor. Once the Editor Screen opened, it would then not respond.  I would have to use Task manager to close the program.  The only way I could get it to work again for a small period of time would be to uninstall and reinstall--a reboot did not do it.  I thought that perhaps with all of the Microsoft/Windows updates, that I need to upgrade to 2023.  I have done that.  The first day I used it, it worked wonderfully.  Now it is the same problem.

Please help!
