Hi All,

Please try the steps mentioned in this article to mitigate the launch issues encountered with PSE 2021 and PSE 2022 on Mac OS Monterey.

Photoshop Elements crashes on launch after macOS 12.3 update. (adobe.com)

Let us know if this resolves the launch issues for you.

Hi @Thomas E2275814536iv,

Can you please let us know from where did you purchase the application? Also, do you get an error message when you try to launch it?

Regards,

Medha Sharma

@Kesata13, from what I understand, Elements 2021 works if you update to Monterey version 12.1.

If it is not working for you, why are you complaining to Adobe about your legacy software not working on your new OS?  Why aren't you asking Apple why its new OS doesn't support legacy programs?

If you have a specific problem with your software, ask a specific question and maybe someone here will have an anwer for you.

I'm sorry you have such a poor concept of what this forum is about.
ADOBE-you may not know this, but ADOBE is a pretty big company in the Apple
cosmos-is responsible for making sure their products will work with new or
significant updates. That is why they get ADVANCE copies of those updated
operating systems to test out their products in ADVANCE of the OS being
released. Did you get an advance copy? I didn't. I trusted ADOBE, as I have
for years, to do that research. So before you go all up in the air about my
statement, please remember; this forum is for people to post information
regarding their experiences using ADOBE products and specifically in this
case. ADOBE Photoshop Elements. As this was the FIRST time in all the many
years and many PSE versions I have purchased and used, that OS
incompatibility has been an issue. That sorta seems like someone dropped
the ball with Monterey. And it wasn't me.

That said, over the years I have greatly appreciated and put to good use
the support I have received from ADOBE tech support and from perusing this
forum.

But this is the first time anyone also accessing this forum has decided to
attack me. Not cool.

I agree that it would be nice if it worked like that but it does not. Software development is too frenetic, fast-paced and shrouded in secrecy.

Apple is notorious for last minute, deep changes to their code and, lately, bug-ridden major releases with several dot releases to make major versions stable.

Adobe does not expend engineering hours to do deep dive testing until they've got the gold code (could be the day of public release) since they would be testing their apps on a moving target. A "broken" feature in an app could be either an Apple OS bug or an intended Apple design change in the OS.

Hence there are frequently lags between operating system releases and software compatibility testing.

I have purchased Premier Elements and Photoshop Elements in September 2020.  I used it twice.  Now it does not work.  Why are there so many problems with Adobe products.  Under NZ consumer law I am entitled to a refund.  Please advise what you are doing to fix this problem if anything, or I think I should look for a refund.

Which operating system are you using on which Elements 2020 does not work?

Can you provide more details on exactly what does not work?

Hi,

Adobe is actively working with Apple to resolve the issues with OS 12.0 Monterey.

As we have more information, we will update the forums.

Thank you for your patience.

Per my conversation with Adobe they are NOT going to resolve these issues,
are Not working with Apple and only want you to buy 2022. They acknowledge
that the apps won’t and don’t work even though they show that they are
supported.

This is such bad customer service as you would think Adobe would at least
offer support fir an issue they acknowledge knowing about but won’t even
offer a patch or an prorated amount for the upgrade but don’t. I have
after hours trying to get anywhere with Apple and mainly at Adobe fault cut
my losses and bought Affinity (which is just as good, is half price and
supports the hardware I have purchased for photo editing).

So disappointed that a company like Adobe would basically steal hard earned
money for no working expenses apps!
Glad I didn’t buy anything else from Adobe and it will be along time before
I do , if ever.

You lost a faithful customer on this one.

I would appreciate some confirmation from Adobe on this. If this is true, it is a shameful abandonment by Adobe of  faithful users of PSE.

How about it ADOBE SUPPORT? ADOBE Insiders? ADOBE PSE volunteers? Are you going to require us, even those who had just purchased PSE 21 to shell out another $79? How about offering a credit or a discount?

That would at least be a tad bit fair.

My experience is even stranger. I had my computer in the shop for reasons that ultimately resulted in my copied and pasted post from yesterday, 11/21/21. When they checked it initially, there were  no issues with hardware. They reinstalled  after removing everything. Unbeknownst to me until I got it home, they had upgraded the OS to Monterey. PSE21 with the Editor worked just fine. And did so for over a week. But then other continuing issues returned and the post explains the rest.

Post from yesterday

"After 6 very long months of  cascading issues, Apple finally replaced the logic board in the Mac I bought in April. So when starting up the computer home from the local shop, PSE Editor will not open, Organizer is working fine. Should I delete the ENTIRE PhotoShop Elements21 suite including the Organizer, then download a new copy of PS Elements to have everything work together? Or is there something else I should do instead?"

I now see this is part of a larger issue. Why it worked before with Monterey and why it doesn't now, makes zero sense. Hope Adobe gets on this ASAP...without us having to pay out for PSE22.

What version of Elements are you using?  Adobe is aware of the problem and I believe is working on a fix for Elements 2022.  I doubt whether a fix will be provided for any earlier version.

2019 elements wont open after monterey 12.0.1 update.

I was getting ready to buy 22 but I won't if it will not be supported in a year!

why wouldn't they just fix earlier versions... i belielve they just need to verify themselves as an identified developer?!
