Elements 10 problem

My wife bought photoshop elements 10 for her last MacBook pro. We upgraded to an iMac earlier this year. Whenever I try to save a file, the whole program shuts down, and I lose all work. This happens whenever I save, either as a psd or a jpeg.

Other details:

currently operation on MacOS High Sierra, version 10.13.5

If the versions are incompatible, what should I do? We spend a lot of money on this program, and do not have that kind of cash to spare atm.

    Yes, your several version old program is most likely not going to run well due to Apple not maintaining backward compatibility in new operating systems

    I tried this option, but still no luck. Guess I have to find new software?
