ELEMENTS 10: Why does Downloader not show all the photos on the card?

Running the following: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and Adobe Photoshop Elements 10

Here the steps I followed:

  1. Photoshop Elements 10 is up & the Nikon D700 is connected to the computer.
  2. In Organizer, File --> Get Photos and Videos --> From Camera or Card Reader
  3. In Photo Downloader, Source, Get Photos from:  select D700.
  4. Then get message "Connecting to device....Please wait." followed by the message "Searching for media....Please wait." with the number found increasing to about 758 ( there are actually 760 images on the card)
  5. Upon completion, we the following as the final display:
  • Source --> Get Photos From 18 --> D700
  • 18 Files Displayed (18 Selected - 104.4 MB):  12/27/2015 - 11/10/2016

But none of the other 760 photos are shown (at one time they were shown)  Why are they not shown now?

Thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

    Hi Robert,

If I am getting your issue correct, then you are saying at one point of time Adobe Photodownloader (APD) was showing all 760 media. But once you imported it and then you relaunch APD again, then it shows only 18 media. Is it the case? If not, please elaborate more on the issue

If so, then probably APD is not showing media because of its duplicate detection feature. To verify this, click on the duplicate icon button (last icon in row of icons for filter by Image, audio or video). Once done, APD grid will show all media. Please let me know if it does not resolves your issue or if you are facing any issues with finding duplicate button.

Good day Surendra - You have understood my question correctly. It took me quite a while to find the Duplicates icon located in the Photo Downloader panel, near the top, immediately beneath the box labeled "Source". From your note it was not clear to me where it was, so I had to hunt around a lot, but finally stumbled on it. And yes, when I clicked on it, all the other images were displayed, 759 in total.

So thanks very much for taking the time to respond and thus solve my problem. Yours was the only response I received and so I really would have been stuck had you not responded. Again, thanks greatly.

I shall of course mark your answer correct but before we get to that, a couple of related issues, if I may:

    1. So if I want to import again the images I previously imported, under Preferences --> Camera or Card Reader..., do I have to untick Copy New Files Only (Ignore Already Imported Files)?

    2. I am still a beginner with Elements but I find the interface / package difficult to learn. Is it just me or do others have the same experience?(I note that you are staff so that this may not be a topic you may be comfortable in commenting on and that's fine.

    Regards
