Elements 11 Camera Raw issues

I had been using this ancient elements software for over a decade. Today I tried bringing a Nikon D810 photo (.RAW file) into the application, it gave me the camera raw error of not being up to date to read the file. I then went to download the newer version of Camera Raw from Adobe and after it installs nothing changes. I also have noticed that the "preferences+CTRL" trick I've found on youtube won't work for me, as when I hit the Edit>Preferences there is no camera raw to click on. I have looked for it in my program files as well (to replace it with the newer version) but cannot find a standalone file either.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Elements as a last ditch effort. Really confused. Just now I checked for updates, and it recommends the 7.4 version which I believe is what I had before I uninstalled. Why won't it show newer versions?

Camera Raw Version 7.1.0354

Windows 10

Thanks

You could use the Adobe DNG Converter to convert the Nikon 810 nef(s) to DNG copies which then PSE 11 should open.

The Nikon D810 was first supported in Camera Raw 8.6

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

Elements 11 is compatible with Camera Raw up to version 7.4 (but no further) so it will not open the D810 Raw files using Camera Raw.

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

If you don't intend to pay to upgrade to Elements 2024 (which will support those Raw files out of the box) then you can convert the D810 Raw files to DNG format using the free Adobe DNG converter.

Adobe Digital Negative Converter

You can then open the converted DNG files (not the Raw files) in Elements 11.

Hi, welcome to the Adobe Community! The application version you're using does not support the latest Camera Raw version. Check out the Camera Raw plug-in and application compatibility list here: https://adobe.ly/4fU3FdU

For the application to be able to read the Nikon D810 files, the minimum Camera Raw version required is version 8.6. Please check: https://adobe.ly/4dTrTDj

Thanks!

I was hoping the plug-in was universal but I see that is not the case. I just purchased the 2024, thank you.
