Elements 11 dropdown menus

I just reinstalled Elements 11 after upgrading from Windows 7 to 10. I no longer get the full drop down menus at the top of the home screen - only a thin blank column where the various options should be. Do I need to adjust the screen resolution?

    As a curtesy and with good will Adobe should let us upgrade to version 15 for free since this is not such a old version of this software which should be better designed since all other programs working fine after latest Windows update.
