Question

elements 12 organizer has several folders with duplicate pictures

I was going thru elements organizer in elements 12 and found that I have several folders with duplicate photos in them.  When I delete a photo in 1 folder, it also deletes the same photo in all of the other folders that have that picture in it.  Isn't there a way to just delete the single picture in a single photo?  I don't want to delete every copy of the picture, just the duplicate one.  You help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi werock,

Thanks for posting in Adobe forums.

I understand you are facing issue with duplicate photos in Organizer.

Can we follow the following steps

Click “Find

Click “By Visual Searches

Click “Duplicate Photos

You will get an interface where you see all your duplicate pictures

You get these options that you can use according to your choice “Stack” , “Unstack” or “Remove from Catalog

Hope this helps

Thanks

thank you so much for your reply. another question. When I did as you said it brought up a whole bunch of pictures. Are those the duplicates? If I would delete that whole bunch of pictures, does that mean that I would still have the duplicates on my computer? I just wanted to be sure because I don't want to lose those pictures permanently.

thanks for your reply

Hi werock,

I am glad it worked for you.

After following the above steps you select a duplicate pic & click the button "Remove from Catalog" from the bottom left hand corner.

When you click it then you get a dialogue box to confirm some details with the message displayed below.

If you click the checkbox in the above dialogue box, it deletes that specific file from your hard drive as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
