Elements 15 download problem

I have a Nikon 7200, Elements 15, Windows 10 and a Lenovo Yoga Core I5 laptop.

I open Elements and download photos from my SD card using the attached card reader on the computer.

The problem I can't fix is that the photos become blurry when I remove the card.  If I try to edit the blurry photos, Elements searches for the missing file.

Obviously the complete file is not being downloaded.

How do I fix this?  I suspect the photos are being downloaded using software from another photo app.  I want to load the photos through Elements but I can't find the setting to accomplish this.   Help

Use Windows Explorer to copy the files.

This does work, but it is somewhat inconvenient to use as Elements download screen pops up when I insert SD card.  I have to close it and go into "file explorer" the new name for "windows explorer.

The suggested solution doesn't work.  I used File Explorer to open files yesterday and transferred them to Elements.  They were clear for a while when I removed the chip from the card reader on the computer however, today when I opened Elements they were blurry.  Elements scrolled through all of my files looking for the missing parts.  The search was unsuccessful because the card was back in camera, already formatted.

Interestingly, after I edit and transfer the files to One Drive, the pictures are clear and stay clear.  If I take the computer in the field, the One Drive files are not available.  Elements can't find the missing parts of the file on One Drive.

I wish Adobe would fix my problem as the program is useless to me with the defect.
