Question

Elements 2018 installed on a PC Windows 11 machine; Installed fine, no errors. However, when I open Elements, open a file about 3-5 clicks in, it crashes / closes on me.

Elements 2018, open a file; make a few edits (color, contrast, file save as) click to print, and Elements Crashes! I’ve rebooted, tried when Elements was the only program open. Is there a way to run in Compatibility Mode ?

Resetting preferences fixes many unexplained crashes.  Try this …

    Close Photoshop Elements.

Hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift.

While holding those keys, start Photoshop Elements Editor.

When prompted "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?", click Yes.

This resets the Editor preferences to factory defaults.

    Phinny,

Thanks for the idea, but it didn’t work.
I’ve tried running under Compatibility mode, for Windows 7… then I tried Compatibility for Windows 8 -- neither worked.

I played around with it a bit, and noticed the app stays open, even when I’ve got a photo open. Edit, make changes… still fine. But once I click to Print, that’s when it closes.  Tested it a bit:  It stays open and works as long as I don’t adjust (change) print size. Default is 4x6 and if I leave it alone, it stays open. Once I change picture size, it closes immediately..

That isn’t a complete surprise.  I’d recommend you also take this question up with your favorite AI Assistant.  I like Copilot but I don’t think your choice matters.  And keep an eye open in here too.  Sorry I can’t offer a magic fix.  This one is a bear.
