Elements 2019 & Mojave 10.14.1 issue

My Computer is a MacBook Pro (mid summer 2015), running Mojave 10.14.1 (the very latest update) and Elements 2019 (V 17).  I have three scanners, 1 a Canon CanoScan 8800F, 2 multi function scanner/printers, a Brother MFC 7820N and a HP Photosmart 7520.  I can print on the two printers but cannot import images from any of the scanners.  In the Menu Bar I select File>Import>and I see (Images from Device) but I see no devices to select from. I have wasted many hours trying to solve this problem without any luck.  I have been an Elements user since Elements 4 and my most recent upgrade was from EL 11. I have never had problems like this before.  Can you help me?

Canon no longer supports the 8800f and the previous driver no longer works under Mojave. The solution is to either use OS X Sierra (or earlier), or buy Vuescan which supposedly works under Mojave.

I am running Mojave on an iMac with Canon 9000F and using Vuescan and all working well. In fact Vuescan is much better than the software supplied by Canon. You can download Vuescan for free to try first it seems to support all old scanners as well.
