Elements 2020 Magnetic Lasso crashes

I have Elements 2020. Everytime I use the Magnetic Lasso it freezes my laptop or crashes it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Elements...nope. 

I deselected the "Use Graphics Processor" and have the cursor set to Standard which in other forums a lot of people say worked for them...did not work.

Has this only just started?  Try resetting the preferences file. Go to Edit>Preferences>General tab and click the Reset Preferences on next launch button.

I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work.

I recall using magnetic lasso before without issues, but in the last few weeks or so it freezes my computer. It looks like the regular lasso works OK, but within 5 seconds of the magnetic lasso touching the page it freezes.
