Elements 2022 Open dcm files

I read online that Elements can open .dcm files but when I try I get an error message about not the right file type. I am using a PC with Windows 11 Home edition. Can a dcm file be opened? If yes, how?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

.dcm files are not listed as supported by Photoshop Elements.

In my experience, as Jeff says, those files found on optical discs come with their own viewing software. There are a number of free utilities that will apparently convert the files to jpeg.

Thank you all very much for your interest. Since I first posted about this, I installed Microdicom and so I can look at .dcm files and even save them as .jpg files.😊
