Question

Elements 2022 opens but freezes after that.

I open the main app that offers Organizer, Photo Editor, Video Editor.  I choose Photo Editor and it opens, then it's not responding at all.  Waiting doesn't help.  I have to use Task Manager to stop the process.  Adobe supposedly fixed this a while back and it did work for a while but now it's useless again.  This is on Windows 10.  Version: 19044.2604

Please fix as I try to use this software regularly.

I tried to attach the .DMP file from Task Manager but Adobe won't accept it.

I want to thank everyone who tried to help. But what seems to work now is to open Elements photo, editor, and wait. It can take up to a minute for the editor to open the photo.  The PC that I have is not slow, and in fact, used to open Elements almost instantly, but that suddenly changed. I don't know why, but for the time being, I'll live with it as it is.

I have the same problem and it really sucks to have to wait at the least 1 minute before the program is useable. I am starting to think upgrading from 21 to 23 was a waste of my money. Hopefully Adobe looks into this issue soon.

Did you reboot your computer after changing the Windows Printer settings?

Which Editor mode are you in (Quick, Guided or Expert)?

Do you have a photo open in the Editor?  (Many controls require a photo to be open.)

Have you created (or converted an earlier version of) a catalog in the Organizer?  If so, go to the Organizer and in the Edit>Preferences>Media Analysis dialog, uncheck all of the boxes.

I did reboot. Seemed smart.

I use Expert mode.

There no photo open as I can only open the editor and that’s it.

I’m away from home but will try your suggestion tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you.

Yes.  Change your default (in Windows Settings) to any other printer - even a pdf printer - and you should see a change in how quickly the Editor will open.  Please let us know if this works for you.

No luck. The window with three choices opens. I choose the photo editor
and it opens very quickly. Then nothing. No Elements icons or controls
respond at all. "Not responding" in task manager.

thanks

Do you have a wi-fi printer set as your default printer?

I do, yes.  Can that somehow affect Elements freezing after opening?
