Elements 2022 SD Card Downloading

I can download my NIKON 810 bird images  from my SD card into PS Elements  2022 organizer like always in past editions; however once downloaded the thumbnail shots do not appear. Only a pale blue image with flowers on it. The images are the standard NIKON NEF  products and the data and labeling comes through just fine as always. But only a colored picture and no actual image. I must have a setting wrong but I do not know which one it is. Help please!!!
