Elements Oganiser naming places

This does not work. When you wish to place a photograph on the map you first have to input a place name so that you find the correct part of the world map.  Based on this information it suggests a position in the map and you have to accept or reject the suggested place.

The stack is given a name, one might have expected this place name to be the same as the one searched for but no the stack is given a different name which is usually wrong and often bizarrely so.

It is of little use for the place stack to be given the address England UK.

It can be the name of a road which is hundreds of miles long.

It can be the name of the actual road linked with a town that is nearby but certainly not the town that it is in and certainly not the nearest town.

Yes, you can edit the first part of the name, but this changes all previous instances of that word or phrase.

If you give up and change the first part of the address to the town nearest to where the stack is placed, you have to accept that you will have an address that reads small town, large town, England, UK. But if you do, then all of the addresses, correctly addressed in the large town will also be given the name small town, large town, England, UK, even though they are in the large town and not in or even near the small town.

If the place description is incorrect after the first comma nothing can be done.

HOW MUCH SIMPLER WOULD IT BE TO ALLOW THE USER TO SELECT THEIR OWN ADDRESS FOR THE STACK.

Maybe, with the option to use the address google used to find the place i.e. the one you typed in the first place.

I suppose it is lucky that the GPS in the metadata cannot be used!!

Hi @keithE 53.  I am one of the Organizer's biggest fans.  But for all of the reasons you describe, I do not use the Places map.  Instead, I use regular keyword tags to catalog the locations of my photos.   I don't use geo-tagging and perhaps my needs are not as sophisticated as yours.  But it is possible to create names in a keyword hiearchy at least 3 levels deep.  And frankly, you don't really need to create a hierarchy.  So, for example, I could tag photos of a visit to Disneyland with all of the following tags:  USA, California, Orange County, Anaheim, Ball Road, Disneyland, Space Mountain.   My search for photos could be as wide as all photos of the USA, or all photos of just California, or all photos of Disneyland or all photos of Space Mountain.  I don't know whether this would suit your needs, but you may want to consider it.

I've been doing that since Lightroom first came out so my photos were already tagged that way.  So much easier.  I spent an hour trying to place some photos for a small village and gave up.  I seem to remember it being much easier in Lr but it's a premium product aimed at professional users which I no longer need.
