Elements 2023, Windows 10 computer fan noise constant while open

I have gone from Elements 18 to this new 2023. Elements 18 runs smoothly and without hesitation. 23 seems to be thinking about something constantly and takes longer to react to mouse commands. As well, fan noise is constant like it is thinking about something? Have no idea what. When I close out of the program, fan noise stops. Is this going to clear up or do I need to forget about 2023 and go back to my old 2018? It is irritating.

If you have a large catalog, a lot of file analysis is taking place in the Organizer e.g. face recognition and AutoCreations. You can turn this off in the Organizer's Edit>Preferences >Media Analysis dialog to see if this makes a difference. If this is the cause, leave the computer running overnight while the analysis is taking place.

Thanks Greg, I can give those ideas a try. Right now, I have just tried doing some editing and about ready to go back to the old program and ask for my money back. When I try to save after an edit it is telling me something like "Could not save edited as file is already in use of was left open by another application." I am doing nothing different in 23 than I was doing in 18.
