Elements 2024 photo file disconnect

I just installed Photoshop Elements 2024 and downloaded about 12 images for a test drive. Elements disconnected all those images from the folder in which they resided and I don't seem able to reconnect. I had this same issue in my Elements 2018 and thought hat Adobe would have corrected the issue by now. Any suggestions? Something I'm doing wrong?

Where are the missing (disconnected) photos stored on your computer? Are you using the new Elements Cloud synch? Do you have the correct display filter selected?
